@pharmacistjudge "More important" is hard to say - failing on either count would be a reason not to play a deck tbh. Though if it's fun to play but not fun to play against, I'd maybe take it out occasionally when playing against people I know well in a "Would you indulge me" kind of way. But if it's not fun to play then I would just never play it.

@pharmacistjudge Fun to play against is a close second, but it doesn't matter if it's fun to play against if you don't play it.

@pharmacistjudge my Ixhel, Infect deck is a ton of fun for me. But I also appreciate that it's not for every table. I wouldn't keep a deck that I don't enjoy piloting.

@pharmacistjudge Both art important equally. We play the game to have fun, but many of us also play for everyone to have a good time. But that includes ourselves as well.

@pharmacistjudge can you really have one without the other? If it’s not fun to play I won’t play it, and if it’s not fun to play against, I won’t have anyone to play with.

@pharmacistjudge once in a while I'll break out a deck that makes other players groan (when they know it's coming and are okay with it) but I'm not going to break out a deck that makes me groan (unless it's new enough that I don't know I don't like it or it's still in development.)

@pharmacistjudge Fun to Play, just because sometimes people have weird things they insist aren't fun, so it isn't trackable. I once had someone kill me because I played Angel's Trumpet, and effectively gave their creatures vigilance. They built their deck to attack every turn anyway!

@pharmacistjudge to quote Crim “there is a finite amount of fun to be had in a magic game and your goal is to have all of it.” Of course this isn’t true for every playgroup but mine operates by trying to see who can troll the best
