I've been very selfish with my time this week (the people I've helped this week might disagree), lots of time to code, etc, and to listen to music.

@itsfoss Kew is absolutely the best thing I have discovered in a long time. I completely stopped using my Navidrome server at home because of it. #cli #terminal #music_player #Navidrome
@stripey https://github.com/ravachol/kew absolutely rocks! It rocks so hard, I am not using my Navidrome server at home. #cli #terminal #Navidrome #kew
Since I have #Navidrome running I pay more attention again about which #Music I really own vs which I have access to.
And I'm back to ebay for hunting bargains And I consider buying MP3s from bands that I really want to support
First day commuting with my MP3s on my home NAS served via #Navidrome via VPN.
It went better than expected! Either directly via the web interface or via #symfonium. Streaming went pretty smooth.
Now .. maybe buying more MP3s or CDs
Giving #navidrome on my Nas a try.
I recently noticed that I don't listen to my MP3s a lot because I don't like my #MP3 player app.
Now I took the opportunity to try getting away from having my music in the cloud and just have it on my local nas via vpn.
Another tiny step out of US corporate clouds.
*Thrilled* that #Navidrome's big update didn't break or change the private API I'm using to track my listens.

Hey #FreeBSD lovers, would one of those USB-A to #Toslink adapter work on 14.x-RELEASE?
I’m considering using my #Navidrome server as a jukebox but my FreeBSD box does not have toslink output.

Mikä perhana siinä on, että tätä tietojen keräämistä pitää harrastaa opti-out -periaatteella jopa näissä avoimen lähdekoodin projekteisessa?!

I started my #selfhosting journey this week
The first app I got up and running was #Mealie. I now have a tablet in my kitchen so I can search through and read my recipes with ease. Much better than the Google Drive folder I've been using for years!
Now I'm working on getting #Navidrome set up. I'm so excited to have a dedicated place to store my music and to have it be accessible from any device on my local network.
Next I need to find a decent way to share notes between all my devices. Not yet sure if this needs to be a dedicated app on my local server or if something like Obsidian + Syncthing is the way to go.
All this makes me want to get more involved in FOSS projects. I'm glad there are people out there that keep tech enjoyable and full of love
1. #Linux
2. Android in Form von #GrapheneOS und #LineageOS
3. F-Droid Store #fdroid - weil da alles frei ist
6. #firefox
7. #immich - für die Bildersammlung
8. #openmediavault - für das #NAS
9. #vim
10. #ttrss - RSS Feed Reader
i've basically replicated spotify with a self-hosted navidrome server and the "spotify-ish" theme on web and feishin on desktop

Could you might give a short overview on how you are running this?
I would like to set up something similar. My #navidrome runs local, I use it via VPN and I don't want to change this, for security reasons.
Could imagine to host another instance online, but storage is expensive.
These are my concerns.
Thanks a lot!
Been experimenting with Navidrome (FOSS) media server for music (since it respects my id3 tags unlike Jellyfin) and while the linux setup takes a bit more effort, it seems to perform in the ways I need for my music.
I also switched to Ultrasonic android app which works fantastically both on my phone and in Android Auto - plus ts FOSS!!
Will need to try these out for a bit to validate my experience so far, but am optimistic.
My end-of-break nerd project is setting up some kind of self-hosted music streaming service to start getting away from Spotify. Currently looking at #navidrome as a good option. I'm excited, but not looking forward to going back to the old ways of managing metadata manually—seems like it could be a pain.
@CCirco
Heck yeah! I stopped using any of the streaming services years ago, refocusing on my personal library. Started ripping my CD's and cashing in on all hundreds of download codes I'd accumulated from the purchase of records.
Now I can hear any of my library anywhere I am thanks to some #selfhosted software like #navidrome
Shoutout to #bandcamp - a fantastic resource as well - putting cash directly in the hands of the artists.
anyone have a big preference between jellyfin and navidrome for music? i already use jellyfin for movies and tv, just curious if navidrome has some major advantages i'm unaware of
