In seriousness, I think this is actually an underappreciated element of anti-fascism.
A core element of fascist ideology is the idea that there was once a perfect, ideal past, that we through our degeneracy let slip away. The fascist promises to bring us back to it by being a stern ruler who will punish us for our sins.
So it's important to help people understand that there was NEVER a perfect, ideal past. There was just people and their various screw-ups. And people now are fundamentally the same as people then. The clothes change, the rituals change, but people are people.
mother's day (+?)
I love my mom. We have a great relationship. I kinda hate mother's day though. I don't like the trappings of it, but that's not really why I hate it.
Mother's day is the 2nd Sunday in May. My mom's birthday is May 12th. This year is a rare year where they're pretty separate, but in a normal year, the existence of mom's day makes it hard to celebrate how wonderful and unique and special my mom is, because it just gets lost in the 'celebration' of 'mothers'.
That's not to say that you HAVE to talk about your religion if you don't want to. You are entitled to privacy! And you have the right to choose how much you disclose about your religion, and to whom, and in what context.
But don't let people tell you that you can't/shouldn't have a public side to your religion, if you want one.
Queer politics (+)
The Council of Europe has issued a statement condemning transphobia (and calling out the UK in particular)
lol a news site started just selling ads themselves instead of using targeted bullshit and made so much more money https://www.wired.com/story/can-killing-cookies-save-journalism/
